Aeon Mall Kyoto Katsuragawa — Attraction in Kyoto

This one has been my emotional support mall since my Kyoto era. Literally a few steps from the JR station and the bus stop, so even my laziness has no excuse. Indeed it's a part of the nationwide Aeon chain, but this one hits different. Everything runs like a well-oiled gacha machine. Discount sashimi after 6 PM, ffresh fruits, veggies, yaki imo that smells like childhood memories, the drugstore, tax-free corner, cinema, restos and a food court for existential snacking. Bought my electric bike here almost a decade ago and guess what, the same super-helpful guy is still working there. Loyalty unlocked 🫶 The pet shop’s kinda shrinking but this mall remains a non-negotiable stop every time I hop on the JR line. Even if I don’t need anything, I show up....

Aeon Mall Katsuragawa is an excellent shopping destination that truly delivers on convenience and comfort. The layout is smart and spacious, making it easy to navigate even on busy days. This mall is amazing. We were travelling with our 11 month old and had the usual trouble with small crowded spaces in Japan. Coming here was like a breathe of fresh air. The size is comparable, even bigger than western malls. Lots of public couches to relax. Restaurants are large and you won't have a problem getting a seat.

There are two food courts and also a restaurant area. You can spend days here and not finish everything on offer.
