We went in late July of 2023 and stayed at a beach house next to the ocean, it was lovely and warm. This beach was truly lovely. The water was incredibly clear and calm. I spent the whole day just swimming and floating. The beach also had almost no trash. There were some patches that had some drift wood but nothing you couldn’t avoid. The beach is also incredibly spacious so if you didn’t want to be with the crowds you could keep going down and find a spot for yourself. However it does mean you go away from the lifeguards and people monitoring the beach. By the busy section there were small local beach shops selling some food and swimming supplies like floatation devises and goggles. The beach is hard to get to unless you have a car. If you are relying on public transit I would recommend staying the night in the area as it is very limited and takes a few hours from Kyoto area.

Nice enough beach with a great back drop. The weather was overcast the day we were here (F 11JUL). There were not many people here, actually only three people. Not sure if it was the weather or something else. Number of small attractions here, but they were all closed when we visited. Lots of parking. Apparently this is part of a "Quasi National Park."

An avarage beach near the Japan Sea. Actually not a bad place. If full with people that not so good. Parking Fee is 1000 yen. Some alcholic old guy use the loudspeakers and cant understand anything😂

About 25 minutes by car from Nishi-Maizuru Station, about 15 minutes on foot from Tango-Kanzaki Station, Tango Railway. The sand on the beach is smooth and easy to walk on. The sea is shallow and the beach is wide, so it's easy for families with children to play. You can see beautiful scenery of white sand and green pines. When it's hot, it would be nice to cool off in the shade of the pine trees.

Parking is charged during the beach opening season, but free in other seasons. There are about three beach huts, but they are closed during the off-season and BBQs are prohibited. Also there are no convenience stores nearby, so if you want to enjoy snacks on the beach, it's better to buy them in...
