2025年7月初訪問。 大正4年（1915年）の焼岳の噴火で出た泥流や溶岩が梓川をき止めて出来た池だとのこと。地球の歴史的にはめちゃくちゃ最近のことなんだなぁ、と思うのと同時にこの大正池、個人的には上高地で最高レベルに値する景勝地だと思うので、大正池があるのとないのとでは上高地の値打ちが全然違ってくる、よくもまあ泥流や溶岩が梓川を堰き止めてくれたもんだ、と感じます。 そして火山の噴火や地震というのは災害ではあるのですが、そういう地球の息吹もなければこのような絶景も我々が拝められないと思うと複雑な思いになります。 私が訪れた時は文句なしのピーカン日和で青空に映える焼岳。そしてその焼岳が早朝の大正池に映り、まさに絶景でした。最高でした。 なお、ここから上高地の中心部 河童橋までは歩いて90分ほどでした。
