Just awesome!!! The whirlpool cruises is a must see if you are in these parts. The pirate ships are so cool with nice seating areas inside and on the deck, toilets and vending machines. Please book early online, and choose full moon or no moon days when the whirlpools are massive and fast. At the port we get a full description of why the whirlpools happen in the Naruto straits. The cruise guide also explains on board the various sights as we get to the whirlpool (20 min) plus when we circle the whirlpools (20 min) and get back. The Onaruto bridge and the whirlpools are just a once in a lifetime experience!🤯 mind-blowing!
The people in the port...are so helpful from the ticket issuing person, to the people dealing with queues to the cruise guide to people who wave guests a safe travel.
There are many omiyage shops and local shops around to explore awaji onions, onion products and local delicacies like seaweed and sea food. The bus station with buses running to Kobe is 3 min by walk.

Read moreWonderful experience of the marvels of nature. Ticket prices are reasonable ¥2500 per adult for this 1 hour cruise excursion.
There’s many cruise timings per day but there’s only certain timings that have strong chance of the whirlpool.
You can check their website and buy tickets directly online which is better than buying tickets upon arrival since you may not get tickets. Easy to exchange the tickets at the counter with the QR code. The parking area is across the building so it’s a bit confusing but the place is small so you can walk over easily.
Descriptions on the cruise is only in Japanese so if you don’t understand Japanese, it could be hard to get deeper information about the phenomenon but it’s still ok to go explore this. Interesting that there’s multiple whirlpools happening simultaneous, as I thought it’s only a big one.
There’s a small but well stocked gift shop there with local & regional products. Suggest you guys to shop while waiting for the cruise as you should arrive 30 min before cruise starts. After the cruise many people rush to shop, especially tour bus tourists so...
Read moreI have a very good experience in Whirlpools Cruise. I booked a trip marked with a good whirlpool scale in advance. On that day, we went there at around 10 with cold weather and sky started raining. The staff from the cruise immediately prepared hand warmer and raincoat for every visitor.
The trip on the cruise was never bored. When we set sail, staff on land pick up some large paper hand to wave and say good luck to us. They even prepared water cannon to salute to the ship. During the trip, they have arranged a guide to introduce the surrounding area and history of the whirlpool. On the upper deck, the ship got a heated room for those who feel cold and wanted to enjoy the view indoor. Others like me can walk around the ship and watch the beautiful scene and amazing waves under the bridge.
The tide under the bridge was the cause of those whirlpool. Although it is an amazing view, it is also hard to observe a significant whirlpool like what they have showed in video. Nevertheless the whole trip is very enjoyable and it is a must go activities if you visit...
