日本最南端の神社。まるで首里城を彷彿させるような朱色の屋根瓦は、他の神社では見ることが無く、神道の神を祀るところでありながら、琉球の文化を彷彿させる。その上、参道に建てられた木製の鳥居はどの神社でも見ることが出来るたたずまいであり、そのミスマッチな感じに違和感に感じる人も居れば全く違和感を感じない人も居るなど、人に依って神社そのものの感じ方に大きな差が出来ることはとても興味深い。 境内はそれ程広くなく、周遊するだけであれば30分と要しない。手水舎や祈祷を行う拝殿等は多くの神社で見られる構成と同じである。参道に敷かれた石畳や石垣に使われている石に、沖縄建築らしさを感じる程度で、それ以外の面でこの神社ならではの特徴はあまり見られない。祭事でもない限り基本的に空いており、気軽に参拝できるのもこの神社の魅力の一つと言える。
