It's a stunning spot to watch the sun go down as the name suggests. I would recommend surf shoes even though it's a very sandy beach. There isn't much to see snorkelling there, most of the sea grass appeared dead. There were lots of what I think are sea cucumbers which are fascinating for the kids but very little in the way of fish.
I think the lack of fish is mainly because of the nets to stop box jellyfish. It's good to bring really young children as it's a very gradual drop off in the water. And only a few steps from the boardwalk to beach.
