I’ve just completed a three night stay at the Hotel Miyakojima. I arrived at the airport and took a taxi (1700 yen one way) and checked in. Actually, there is no check in because this is an apartment hotel, so there is no front desk. They will send you a pin code to enter the building and one to enter your room (apartment). It’s a completely no contact experience. If you are a quiet recluse, you will enjoy it. If you crave human contact, you might prefer a traditional hotel. For me, it was perfect. My apartment is a large 1K one bedroom/living room, kitchen, bath with laundry facilities. Perfect for short or long-term stays. The air conditioner is a big help because Miyako is hot. To get the air conditioner working at its best, close the door between the kitchen and entryway, and the bedroom. Yes, the other areas will be hot, but if you don’t do this the bedroom won’t cool well. The biggest thing to remember is that you need your pin code for the building and room, so don’t go out without them. Also, as a tropical island watch out for the geckos. They are totally harmless, gentle little creatures that eat the bugs. You may see one run across the floor near your entryway. Be kind to them. The location of the hotel for me was the reason I chose this location. It’s between two beaches, one 600m away, the other about 800m away. Blue Seal ice cream is a block away. The area with a lot of restaurants is about a mile away. With a car, easy. On foot, a walk. If you are not renting a car, you may also have trouble getting a taxi back to the airport. But there are two taxi companies, a 600m walk away, just before the supermarket. I went yesterday and made a reservation. Clearly, this is easier if you speak Japanese. Overall, a good stay and I’d be happy to stay here again if I come...
Read moreAmong my stays in Japan and particularly Okinawa, Miyakojima and Ishigaki, this property definitely stands out as one of the best. Conveniently located within the city center, you can get to this property from the airport by car in about 15 minutes. Parking is free at the property. There are some nice restaurants, cafes and dessert shops within walking distance of this property and an even wider selection if you drive 5-10 minutes out.
The room is really comfortable and very clean. The size is bigger than most rooms you can find in Japan. The room comes with a small cooking area, a laundry area (washer and dryer) and a good size bathroom (with bath tub). The bed were super comfortable and we were always looking forward to a good night's rest after exploring the island.
The check-in process is straightforward (you would not meet anyone for it). Just follow the simple steps given by the host and you can enter your room. It is a hassle free process.
Thank you very much for a wonderful stay at your property. You can be sure we...

Definitely on the cheap.||The bed was great for me, but probably too hard for most people.||The sign on the hotel still has some other name.||There’s no staff at all to talk to.||The entrance to the parking area was flooded for all 4 days of my stay, but passable.||With the go to campaign discount, it was very cheap, so I certainly any complain. If it was priced higher I probably would.||There’s a little fakey kitchen, but zero utensils or...
