Niigata Prefectural Botanical Gardens — Attraction in Niigata

The Niigata Prefectural Botanical Garden (新潟県立植物園, Niigata Kenritsu Shokubutsuen) is a 19.8 hectares (49 acres) botanical garden and arboretum. The garden contains a collection of cherry trees, including Prunus x yedoensis, Prunus jamasakura, Prunus subhirtella, and Prunus lannesiana; a conifer arboretum containing some 300 varieties from Europe and North America; another small arboretum, primarily cherry trees and conifers, given by the prefecture's towns and cities; and a collection of aromatic herbs (about 150 species).

お気に入りの場所で、屋外の散策は無料なので、時々訪ねて季節ごとに移り変わる景色を楽しんでいます。 遊歩道はきれいに舗装されており、起伏のあるコースもありますが、平坦なコースを選べば、車椅子の方も楽しめると思います。（2022.11.19）

【8月中旬】 ぐずついた天気が続いたお盆休み、ようやく晴れたので、出かけてみました。 記録的な猛暑と水不足で、元気を無くした植物もありましたが、今年もパラグアイオニバスが咲き始めていました。水中には蕾も有るので、まだ暫く花を楽しめそうです。 ツクツクボウシが賑やかに鳴き、空にはひつじ雲。ハギの蕾も色づき始め、秋の気配が感じられました。（2025.8.16）

【5月初旬】 GWの快晴の一日に訪ねてみました。 今年はネモフィラのお花畑を発見。芝生の中でポツンポツンと咲いている姿は、可憐さが際立っていました。 ウグイスなど小鳥の囀りを聞きながら、新緑薫る遊歩道を歩いていると、この時期ならではの鮮やかな若葉の緑に元気を貰えます。 天気の良い日にのんびり散策してみるのもいいですよ。（2024.5.5）

【11月下旬】 好天に恵まれた晩秋の暖かな一日、遊歩道を散策してきました。 植物園ならではの普段あまり目にしない植物も有り、見頃を迎えた様々な色の紅葉を愉しむことができました。（2023.11.23）

【3月中旬】 企画展示「にいがたの花 チューリップ」に行ってきました。 新潟県は切り花全国１位、球根２位の生産量を誇り、県の花にもなっています。 今回は総数で50品種1,500本が、期間中に展示されるそうです。 カントリー風にディスプレイされたコーナーもあり、一足先に春を愉しめました。 3月26日（日）まで開催されていますので、明るい春を感じに出かけてみてはいかがでしょうか。（2023.3.12）
