Oita Art Museum — Attraction in Oita

I would like to sincerely thank you for your kind assistance during my recent visit to your museum.

On the day of our visit, we were running late and having difficulty finding transportation to our next destination. Your staff generously helped us get a taxi, and thanks to your warm support, we were able to continue our trip smoothly.

Beyond that, I want to express how impressed I was by the beauty of your museum — the artworks, the architecture, and the surrounding landscape were truly stunning. Among all the museums I have visited, Oita Art Museum left one of the most lasting impressions on me.

大分市美術館は、上野の森の自然環境に調和した落ち着いた雰囲気の建物で、常設展示棟と企画展示棟に分かれています。　近世絵画から現代美術にいたる約1,800点の所蔵作品の中から、国指定重要文化財の田能村竹田の豊後南画や髙山辰雄の日本画など大分ゆかりの作家の作品を中心にジャンル別に展示しています。

今日も何かを探しに行きました。 あるもんです。 すごい気づきが。 経験者ほど面白い場所だと思います。 お一人様大歓迎なスポット。 意外な出逢いも？

生没年：1912年 ～ 2007年（享年95歳）

出身地：大分県大分市勢家（せいけ）

職業：日本画家

■ 生涯略年表 1912年 0歳 大分市勢家に生まれる。

学生時代　大分中学に入学し、山下鉄之輔に絵を学び、画家を志す。

1931年（昭和6年） 19歳　東京美術学校（現・東京藝術大学）入学。

1934年（昭和9年） 22歳　「湯泉」が帝展に初入選（在学中）。

戦後1946年（昭和21年） 34歳　「浴室」が日展特選。

1949年（昭和24年） 37歳　「少女」が日展で再び特選。

戦後～晩年 瑠爽社・一采社などで創作活動を継続し、多くの作品を発表。

1979年（昭和54年） 67歳　文化功労者に選出。

2007年 95歳　死去。長寿で創作人生を全うする。

■ 主な功績・特色 写実と精神性の融合 日常の一場面や人物をテーマにしながらも、独特の精神性と静けさを内包した作品が多い。 帝展・日展での華々しい実績 学生時代からすでに頭角を現し、戦後も日展の中心的存在として活躍。

ジャンルを越える挑戦 日本画家でありながら、リトグラフやエッチングといった版画にも挑戦。 多彩な表現を試み、独自の世界観を構築。

文化功労者としての評価 長年の功績と芸術的な探求が認められ、1979年に文化功労者に選ばれる（文化勲章に次ぐ栄誉）。
