A must-stop Bekkaku for pilgrims, as the temple staff are friendly and is located next to the bridge that Kukai slept underneath, which is the reason why you shouldn’t tap your staff when walking across bridges during the pilgrimage. The tsuyado facility is also one of the best I’ve visited so far, it’s surprising that a bekkaku temple that isn’t essential for pilgrims to visit seems to take care of pilgrims and make them feel welcomed better than many of the assigned 88 temples do. In the tsuyado there is a tatami floor, power outlets, and a warm 10 minute shower for 100yen. The toilet is right next to the tsuyado. It is also close to local restaurants and a convenience store. I felt from the staff that their kindness and hospitality was genuine and I’m very grateful for that! I have a scroll to record my stamps, so I got their stamp on my white vest instead for 200yen. Thank you again! I am now inspired to visit more Bekkaku temples where I can during my walking...
