The lavender is still green, no sign of purple yet (May 29th 2019), but the lavender festival doesn't start until June 8th at which time they should be in bloom. This lavender field is the largest in the whole of Japan. Until last year it was the largest in Kanto, but local farmers planted additional lavender to make it the largest in the country. You can find more information on the Ranzan Tourism website in Japanese or the Saitama with Kids website in English. Official parking is about a 10 minute walk away...

This park is situated near the Musashi-Ranzan station on Tobu Tojo line. This is the largest lavender flower field in Japan. Unfortunately we were not able to enter inside the flower field because of heavy rain but we enjoyed the flower from outside. Even from outside we were able to get the smell of lavender. 今年、初めて伺いました。 ふとラベンダーが見たくなり、調べたところこちらが出てきました。 東京から車でいきました。 日帰りでのドライブには丁度いい距離です。 駐車場は無料が1箇所、有料が3箇所ありました。私たちは嵐山渓谷バーベキュー城の駐車場に停めました。おそらく会場に一番近い駐車場だったので停めて良かったです。 土地が余ってるのか会場も駐車場もかなりゆったり作られてるので、場所によっては会場までかなり歩くと思います。公式HPにマップが掲示されてますので、事前に確認された方がいいです。 混雑を予想していましたが会場はとても広く、チケットもすぐ買えてそのまま入ることが出来ました。 ラベンダー畑のエリア、物販?テントが並んだエリアと分かれています。 ラベンダーソフトが人気でした。ラベンダーの香りがふわっとして美味しかったです。 物販では摘まれたラベンダーやポプリのような雑貨、ラベンダーの苗などを農家さんから購入することができます。農家さんたちも気さくに話しかけてくださり、見るだけでも楽しかったですよ。 ラベンダーの摘み取り体験は、一定の決まったエリアで行われています。マップにエリアが載っていますので、そこまで移動をして受付をします。1回1000円で筒を渡されるのですが、筒に入るまで摘み取ることができます。スタッフの方は50〜60本と仰ってました。時間制限も特になくゆったり摘むことができました。そのままドライフラワーにしてますが気に入っています。 今回は初めての参加でしたが、また来年も伺いたいです。この日は曇りでしたがとても蒸し暑かったです。影になる場所がテントのところしかないなので帽子や飲み物を持って行かれた方が良いです。 あと前の日が雨だったのか道がぬかるんで歩きにくかったので、汚れても良い靴がいいと思います。
