Nice place to visit especially if you come early enough to really explore the place and walk around. You can visit in an hour but better if you have at least 2 hours to really enjoy the place. There's a lot to see and learn at Boso-no-Mura and it really feels like you've been transported to a different era.
The only downside is that there were not a lot of guide and people to show and demo at the "town area". We went there at around 3pm so maybe most of them have left for the day. There were not a lot of guests at that time either. Aside from my friend and I, we only saw 4 other guests. The only "shop" we saw open was the senbei-making stall with two really friendly ladies that showed us how to make senbei, for only ¥100!
The empty place was perfect for taking photos though as there are a lot of places where you can get photos. My favorite parts were the middle-class samurai house and the huge farm house. I would have loved to have more time to really immerse myself.
Perfect for people of all ages! Would love to visit again! Definitely a place I would want to visit again on my next trip!
What I recommend: Go there earlier than 2pm if you're planning to rent costumes. The rental shop closes at 5pm but their last serve time is 2pm. post about your Boso-no-mura experience on SNS for a gift. if you don't have a car make sure to plan your commute accordingly. We missed the bus so we had to take the train instead. The bus would've dropped us off by the Boso-no-mura parking lot but because we took the train, we had to walk 30min from the station. check what seasonal event they have before your visit. They offer different ones...
Read moreHad an amazing time at Boso no mura village !!! It exceeded my expectations by high; very very nice open air museum of Japan Edo period; really had a blast!!! It became one of my favourite places to visit in Chiba prefecture; and I definitely recommend it!!! 💯 Once inside, everything is so authentic. The entrance ticket staffs, local merchants, farmers were absolutely welcoming and so down to earth, such a good service and deep kindness! Even though the little language barrier we managed to communicate and we were invited to participate in fun activities such as creating candles which became a nice memory object; Arts exhibition, etc. The traditional tea house is a must stop by to try the sencha/mochi in a comfortable and traditional tatami room. Beside the merchant street; are either the Samurai or farm houses 🛖 that also are in an impeccable state, very interesting to visit and feel in the 1600s years. Overall loved it and left some sights to explore more for the...
Read moreIn order to enjoy BOSO-no-Mura & to have nice photo shots better go & visit the place on weekdays. The ambience is so unexplainable. You can image yourself in Edo period. They have rentals for ninja & yukata, you can wear them while walking along the village (replica).
This is a must for people who wanted to experience old Japan. They also have tea ceremony. You can choose from 300 or 500yen course. Aside from it, they are also various activities to try like pot making, mask making, senbei making & many others. Just check their website to learn more.
The general admission fee is very affordable, 300yen for the general public. For grade school only 150yen.
Don’t hesitate to visit. It’s quiet huge place so I recommend a whole day visit. Food is allowed, but of course no littering.
Great place for family outing and very...
