This is a very local attraction. You hardly get international tourists here, which is the biggest selling point, especially if you don’t want to jostle and elbow with the crowd at Oshino Hakkai in Kawaguchiko. I do prefer this because other than the quiet that is befitting such a sacred space, I found the flora and foliage around the pond and their reflection to be absolutely calming. It’s very hard to say the same about Oshino Hakkai, which is becoming more like a tourist trap with busloads being dropped off. That said, it’s also because of how hidden the location that there is not much to do. There’s a public bath (onsen) across the road and a cafe to the side. Public toilet is available.
