It is a small ski resort but dont be fooled, even with only 3 lifts, most of their runs are wide and even intermediates will probably find it fun. Shuttle bus is free both going and leaving. The bus from Makomanai station is very hard to miss. I went on a weekend and even then, lift lines are very short and the slopes aren't crowded at all. Lockers are plenty but what I find surprising is most people dont use them, they have shelves in the rental building and you can just use it as you please, leaving your stuff in plain sight. I used a locker though and it is one of nicest one I used with card payment, and a small window which you can open anytime without ending your locker rental period. There is slight powder when I was there and over all, the slopes are wide, mild, and gentle on the lower slopes and quite challenging on the top of the mountain. If they keep the free shuttle I definitely will go back this resort as I just paid 1800 yen for a 3hrs lift pass. This is as about cheap as you can go skiing, specially...
Read moreGreat neighborhood ski resort with very reasonable lift/equipment/suit rental fees. Very few foreigners. The crowd looked more local. It was around $6 per child and $9 per adult for a 2 hour lift pass, which is extremely reasonable compared to the US. You pay an extra 500 yen deposit for the card but can get it returned if you turn your card back in.
They provide lockers for 400 yen, which was nice to put our shoes and other items. I also saw cubbies in the food hall area, which would probably have been just as fine.
Has a little slope area where many toddlers were practicing. My 10 year old son was able to work his way up to the beginner lift within 1 day and had a lot of fun. Even I, after an 18 year hiatus was able to ski comfortably on the beginner slope. We did not go up to the more advanced areas.
The lodge also had some cheap food. We had the super long fried potatoes (butter shoyu flavor) and crepes. There are also vending machines and free...
Read moreCame here during winter, did not know how to snow bike at all. Instructors were nice and very helpful, they ensured we knew the basics before letting us be on our own. They even told us to let them know when we want to go the beginner slope, so they could judge if we were ready.
It is better to know japanese or at least a little as there isn’t much English speaking personnel . But they would use actions and demonstration to teach you.
Best to take the free shuttle at the station. As the public bus stop is pretty far And the slope up to the place is really tiring to walk ( lol )
Overall a fantastic experience. Would come...
