First, this attraction was well worth the visit. I took a taxi from the sasebo station (¥2000) and then the bus back (¥320). I hope more people visit to support the animal's and the beautiful gardens. The following criticism I leave in hopes of improving care for the animal's . Overall it is very beautiful garden, and a lovely collection of animals for a small zoo. My problem with it is the same I have with the majority of small zoos: the animal enclosures are very baren, with nothing to stimulate the animals. Which, considering that they live in they live in a giant lush garden, is kinda sad.
Most zoo's enclosures look like empty dirt pits. for the animal's sake, there should be some forms of engagement (give the giraffes and lions a ball or...
Read moreI’ve lived here over 4 years and this is the first time I’ve actually visited for leisure. The first time I came I only went as far as the giraffes near the front for a volunteer event.
This is a pretty decently sized zoo to visit especially with little ones. I love the way their penguin exhibit is set up and apparently there’s a sort of cafe or seating area that we missed. For 2 adults with a military discount it was literally around ¥1200! For an annual pass it’s ¥2100! For our son’s first visit to a zoo this was the perfect size and as soon as we were done he fell right asleep. Parking is free and just right across the street.
There is a diaper changing room in the penguin exhibit building as well as a men’s and women’s restroom. The bathroom...
Read moreEnclosures are way to small and depressing and I really hope they expand for them they need so much more space to run around and fly around happily, its cheap to get in and do feeding but we went and most things were closed, we didn’t even do the whole park for the fact it was getting to upsetting to see the small enclosures they’re kept in. They need a lot more greenery and trees etc to run around with and play with/on. Like the monkeys only having a tiny thing to climb on, they also need more shade for them over some of the enclosures etc.
The place was dead when we went, extremely hot and muggy, the gardens and grass and everything was pretty dead, just a very dull sad and depressing zoo.
I really don’t recommend coming...
