Updated: I viisted on 3rd Jan 2022 again. Plenty of parking available. I ate fried Tofu again. Be careful of slippery road due to excess snowfall. You can also visit via public transportation (Bus). Enjoy the best meditation centre. Hope you get lucky with your beautiful wishes. Spread love, not COVID-19. . . One of the beautiful Buddhist temple with best location (about 40 min drive from Sendai station). I went there with my friends on 15 August 2020. We worshipped and walked around the temple complex. It was so serene and peaceful. Later, we ate famous aburage (fried tofu) and tounyuu (soya milk). It’s famous for firefly viewing some time of the year. And on the way, there are famous sight seeing spots (dam, park etc.). So highly...

８月の第一土曜日、西方寺の花火を見てきましたが真正面の山の中腹より花火が上がり、出店もあって賑やかでとても良かったです。

有名な油あげを目的に行きました。説明書きには「明治23年創業の老舗豆腐店 定義とうふ店の三角形の油あげは、シンプルながらもクセになる美味しさです。2度揚げしていることにより、外側はカリカリで肉厚な中身の油あげは醤油と七味をかけて味わってみてください。」とありました。私の個人的な感想ですが、イメージではきつねそばに入っている油あげを想像していたので、つゆに浸っていないカリカリの油あげはナンセンスです。なぜにこれがこうも有名なのか・・・。オイシクないよ別に・・・。どん兵衛の油あげのほうが美味しいです。 醤油と七味は自身で机に置いてあるのをかけます。油あげと同じ大きさの発砲スチロールに1枚ずつ乗って出てきます。フタはありません。カリカリ乾燥しているので摩擦係数が皆無であり、人とぶつかったら落とすので注意です。店内と店外にベンチが並んでいます。大きめなゴミ箱はあるので、食べ終わった箸と皿を持って歩く心配はありません。自動販売機はそこらじゅうにたくさんあるので、口カラッカラになっても安心です。そこは親切ですね。 これから訪れる方にプチ情報ですが、私は、日曜日の8時15分に行きました。油あげ販売は9時からです。参拝を先に済ませ、9時に行ったら並んでいたので、せっかく来たのに売切れたら大変と慌てて並んで買って食べました。しかし、9:30頃には行列も解消し、ベンチもガラガラ。つまり、9時前に並んだ人で一時的に混雑しベンチが埋まっただけで、9:30～10:30は余裕で買えます。観光バスが来る10:30過ぎからお昼過ぎまでは行列ができます。みそおにぎりは超うまいです。こっちのほうが超おすすめです。定義とうふ店ではみそおにぎりは売っていません。一番端にある、甘酒とかこんにゃく棒とかも売っているおばあちゃんがいるお店にひっそりと売っています。持ち帰り用の油揚げパックもそこに売っていますよ。 ボランティア？で敷地内を掃き掃除している方々は基本不愛想。大本堂隣のお守り売り場の2人組は私語に夢中で、参拝者が来ると話を止め、居なくなるとまたぺちゃぺちゃおっぱじめます。感じ悪いので、貞能堂隣のおじさん一人のお守り売り場がおすすめです。 あとから聞いたのですが、あげ饅頭も有名らしいですよ。
