A wonderful activity to include when visiting the Shiroishi River Cherry walk. The old castle ruins are long gone, but a delightful garden, walkway, and cherry tree-lined trail system exist in its place. No cost to enjoy the scenery. We visited the day after the festival. There were still many food and souvenirs vendors. The path is steep up the hill. Take the funicular car if you don’t want to hike the 20 minutes to the top. A huge statue is at the top overlooking the town. There is flower garden, several lookouts, and countless cherry trees. Seating , food, and washrooms at the top. If you miss the cherry blossoms, there are still several other planned flowing events including: daffodils, tulips, and lilies. Lots of parking for those who drive. We walked from the train station after taking the JR line from Sendai. Well worth the day trip. Just an incredible experience during the Sakura. Don’t miss this if you have the...

Sakura mountains in full bloom (April 15th, 2024). There are no words that can replace the beauty of this place, like to be living in in the dream. Very Recommend, once in your life.

If you come here, I recommend planning a day to see the cherry blossoms blooming on the mountain. (Funaoka Castle Ruins Park) in the morning and cherry blossoms along the Shiroishi River in the afternoon.

In addition to walking and admiring the scenery. You can also buy round-trip (Adult 500 yen and 300 yen for child) or one-way (Adult 250 yen and 150 yen for child) slope car tickets, very worthwhile.

For me, I choose to walk up, since there is a long queue for upward ticket that gave me time to admire the view. and the very wonderful atmosphere. At the top, we have a picnic and eating lunch amidst the cool wind and cherry blossoms fall...

It was interesting. The place is located at a hill, and the place is lined with seasonal flowers, such as cherry blossoms, red spider lilies, and chrysanthemum. It is very beautiful in spring, more specifically during 5 - 12 april. The view from the top is incredible, you could see the entire city from up there. The wind is very strong, and chilly. When i came the cherry blossoms didn't bloom, such a shame. It would be a great place to be after it all blooms. 10/10 would go again after it...
