During our Oshima Subprefecture road trip, we made a stop at Roadside Station Shikabe Geyser Park, and it was a delightful experience!
One of the highlights of the park is the ashiyu (foot bath), where you can soak your feet in warm, soothing water while enjoying the relaxing surroundings. The geyser is another must-see attraction. It erupts at regular intervals, providing a fascinating display of nature's power.
Inside the station, there are plenty of souvenirs like kombu and mentaiko for sale, ranging from local delicacies to unique handcrafted items, making it a great spot to pick up memorable gifts. We couldn’t resist trying the sesame soft cream, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor—a perfect treat after exploring the area.

If you want to see only the geyser, you can see it upon the hill behind this station. You should pay 300 yen or less per person depending on the age. In the geyser park, there is a foot bath where you can rest your foot and enjoy the geyser. To my knowledge, it is the only geyser close to Hakodate. I, however, still wonder if it is worth paying 300...

There is also a nice restaurant on-site. You also have the option of purchasing fresh oysters at the on-site shop and then steaming the oysters outdoors on natural steam vents.
