Small and quiet Japanese temple. A 30 minutes good walk from the nearest bus stop. The pagoda was magnificent. There is a lone sakura tree near the pagoda which is on full bloom on the day I visit. The main temple exterior is under some repairs. The souvenir shop opens at 10am. I guess the lack of public transport makes it a less popular spot for tourists.

I rate this 5 stars because it’s all I expected it to be, quite, beautiful surrounded by rice field 🌾 it’s like perfectly japan from a magazine. It’s hard to get .. I visit on summer with the free bus from Okayama. It was worth it

It was part of our bicycle trail for Kibi plains. Worth a visit if you're nearby :) there's a shop selling ice cream, drinks and some souvenir. It was our first time trying amazake, and it was surprisingly delicious!

Beautiful temple with a stunning five-story pagoda. There's a shop selling food, drinks and souvenirs. It's a great place to hang out for an hour.

総社駅前でレンタサイクルを借り、吉備路自転車道を走ること30分弱で到着。国道429号を越えた辺りから、五重塔がお出迎え。国分寺周辺はジョギングをする人やピクニックをする家族も見られた。自転車は本堂の入り口付近にある公園に駐輪可能。正直に言って、国分寺自体はさほど見どころがない。とはいえ山門の手前にある芝生から見る五重塔は本当に立派で、悠久の時の流れを感じられた。サイクリングならば多くの角度から息を飲む田園風景を楽しめるのでオススメ。御朱印は本堂で頂けず、「くろひめ亭」という茶店の隣にある庫裡で頂いた。今回の訪問は秋ということで、コスモスとの共演も美しかった。季節ごとに様々な顔を見せてくれそうな五重塔を見るべく、また訪れたい。

国指定の史跡です。 東からは山を超えると吉備路のシンボルともいうべき五重塔がみえ、目印になります。 道の南側に無料の駐車場があり、そこから歩いて数分。 国分寺の門をくぐり、西側に向かうと五重塔があります。 時期によりますが、夜ライトアップされます。 幻想的な雰囲気になります。 近くに古墳が多くあり、1日では制覇できそうにありません。 サイクリングロードもあり、景色を楽しみながらサイクリングできます。 茶屋もあり休憩できます。 駐車場側にも売店などもあり、食事もできます。 また、安富牧場のジェラートも販売しています。 ももっこカードがあれば値引きあり◎ 一日のんびり楽しめるスポットの一つだと思います。

The Bitchū Kokubun-ji is an Omuro-branch Shingon Buddhist temple located in what is now the Kamibayashi neighborhood of the city of Sōja, Okayama, Japan. Its main image is a statue of Yakushi Nyorai.
