Kumano Kodo Information Center is an exceptional gem nestled in the heart of the Kumano Kodo region. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a wealth of valuable information that enriched my pilgrimage experience.

The staff at the information center were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the Kumano Kodo trails, offering expert advice on the best routes to take, hidden gems to explore, and cultural insights that deepened my appreciation for this ancient pilgrimage route.

The center itself is modern, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to provide visitors with all the resources they need to embark on their Kumano Kodo journey. The interactive displays, informative exhibits, and detailed maps made it easy for me to plan my itinerary and understand the historical significance of the region.

I particularly appreciated the range of services available at the center, including guided tours, accommodation recommendations, and transportation options. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that I had a seamless and unforgettable experience along the Kumano Kodo trails.

Overall, I cannot recommend Kumano Kodo Information Center enough. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a first-time pilgrim, this center is a must-visit destination that will enhance your Kumano Kodo adventure and leave you with lasting memories of this...

What a huge disappointment! I was waiting to go here to get maps and a stamp book and lots of information. NOTHING!!!!!The lady was totally disengaged! When I asked about maps, I got given a brochure booklet, which, while nice, is not a daily walk map! Or even a stage map. I approached her 3 times, and no one else was asking. She didn't have a queue or anything. Far from busy! Yet a Japanese lady walked in she got up from her seat, ran over to her , enthusiastically spoke to her for a few minutes, and then resumed her seat behind the desk. I had planned and waited 6 months to get to this place. I was under impression from their very own website that trail maps, etc, were available. There was nothing anywhere around inside to pick up. Seating area, toilets beside, wall map. Don't go expecting...

Not much info here. We arrived on a very rain day and the info available there was not very usefull. But on the other hand, the signaling of the start of the Kumano Kodo trail are very well marked, you cant miss it. The shops there dont have much for the trail. In Tanabe there is an information center which is much more usefull. I think the Kumano Kodo trail has not clear accommodation options. Once there, everything is...

Nice and helpful little information center on the pilgrimage trail. Had excellent maps for the 7 day trail. We did the 3.7km, 2.25hr walk on the trail over the mountains to the next village. Was grade 4-5 walk. We walked back via the road. About 1.25 hours.

Essential stop before starting your Kumano Kodo (Nakahechi) hike / walk to get a booklet (¥100) if you plan to collect stamps. The place also has some Kumano Kodo artifacts and sells Montbell hiking gear.
