Read moreWhat a huge disappointment! I was waiting to go here to get maps and a stamp book and lots of information. NOTHING!!!!!The lady was totally disengaged! When I asked about maps, I got given a brochure booklet, which, while nice, is not a daily walk map! Or even a stage map. I approached her 3 times, and no one else was asking. She didn't have a queue or anything. Far from busy! Yet a Japanese lady walked in she got up from her seat, ran over to her , enthusiastically spoke to her for a few minutes, and then resumed her seat behind the desk. I had planned and waited 6 months to get to this place. I was under impression from their very own website that trail maps, etc, were available. There was nothing anywhere around inside to pick up. Seating area, toilets beside, wall map. Don't go expecting...

But on the other hand, the signaling of the start of the Kumano Kodo trail are very well marked, you cant miss it. The shops there dont have much for the trail.
