Kodo-no-Mori Anchan — Hotel in Tanabe

Our accomodation at Takahara was cancelled and we were moved to Kodo-no-Mori. It actually worked out really well if you are coming down from Osaka in the morning and timed right you will arrive around 1.30 2ish at the start of the trail. We left our packs and did the first section to Takahara comfortably and hiked down the hill and bussed back with time to spare for dinner. The next day An chan was kind enough to give us a ride up to Takahara!! The bento dinner, breakfast and lunch I had no issues with, they were filling and comforting. We enjoyed our stay at Anchan very much! The bento box is super delicious. I love the plum. It is the best! Myachan ( the cat) showed us great hospitality! We had nice conversation with Anchan. He’s so nice! We also used his luggage shuttle service. It was excellent! The guest house is located right next to the Nakahechi trail start point. Super convenient to start your hike! Way too expensive for what you get. Don't get me wrong; the location is nice and the food is okay. But there is really nothing special about this accomodation. And paying 90 euros per person is way too much and not worth it. If you want to hike Kumano Kodo, try to sleep in Tanabe and take the first bus or walk to Takahara on the 1st day. There are more...
