Not worth it unless you come during the winter. From April to the end of October there will be lifeguards that tell you can’t do any swimming or snorkeling unless in their super tiny swim area that’s maybe 10 meters out, unless you are part of the resort AND buy a tour. Despite all that, there’s are signs around the beach saying the tour area, which is where you can’t swim, is only the outer reef, about 60 meters out, and that anything else is swim at your own risk. If you’re not part of the resort, they want you to buy their wristbands just to rent anything, including life vest, and wristbands alone are 1800 yen each person. Saw many people come and go from this beach because of the even stricter rules the lifeguards enforce, which is more than likely the resorts fault, and explains why the beach is empty of people. Only thing you really can do is go waste deep into the swim area, or sit on the beach and look at the water. Not worth your...
Read moreWorst Experience ever. The wildlife is not the best , Nor the corals and you can only swim in a small area before a lifeguard comes to you and tells you to go back closer. So you can basically not see anything if you don't pay for all the guided tours.
Additionally access is HORRIBLE. There is one taxi on the island which is always booked. So you have to walk to the beach , 50 minutes in the heat , back and forth.
This island is not great either, ferry is unorganized , no seats for most people. You have to be there 1 hour before it departs. So basically if you count travel time and time to be at the ferry + walking, we were at the beach for 1h30 and we had to go back right after.
If turtles are the only thing you want to see , might be worth it. If you want to see good corals, be free without paying 300$ on tours and see actual good nature , go to Ishigaki or Iriomote, even Okinawa has...
Read moreA very beautiful beach, with clear water and lots of fish. There are life guards patrolling the area and a few shaded look out points just behind the beach line. The big issues with this beach is there was no where to purchase drinks or food when we arrived. The giant hotel was closed, the restaurant was closed and the food truck was not open. I asked the life guard if there was anywhere to purchase drinks or a vending machine and they said no. We had walked 40 minutes from the nearby town, and the weather was hot and sunny, luckily we brought drinks with us. There was another two girls that did not bring enough to drink and one girl ended up getting heat stroke. Even though it was high season, business on the island appears to be slow, and business hours are not reliable. Prepare accordingly and bring lots of drinks, snack, an umbrella or shade and...
