Fussa Base Side Street — Attraction in Tokyo

At the recommendation of a friend, I learned that today was the open house day at the U.S. military base. As a Uyghur who has suffered ethnic cleansing by the Chinese government, I deeply admire the military strength of the United States and was looking forward to visiting. I made an online reservation smoothly, and there was no mention that holders of Chinese, Taiwanese, or Hong Kong passports would be denied entry.

After queuing for two hours, I finally reached the entrance. My four American friends were waiting for me inside, one of whom is a U.S. veteran who served in the Vietnam War. After checking my residence card, they politely guided me to Gate 7 to take my fingerprints and photo. Then they very courteously told me to go to the exit, where a female officer, also polite, escorted me out. I overheard them saying that I was denied entry because I am Chinese.

In China, I was never treated as Chinese, and now here, I’m denied entry because I hold a Chinese passport. I believe one major reason for the decline of the U.S. government is that you are doing exactly what the Chinese government does. You could have simply stated on your website that holders of Chinese and Taiwanese passports are not allowed to apply. There was no need to put people through such unnecessary trouble.

You should be opposing authoritarian regimes that commit crimes against humanity—not targeting certain ethnicities or groups of people. The person who designed this policy should feel ashamed. Even my American friends found your actions...
