奥多摩湖の最奥で丹波川方向を跨いでいる橋。1957年（昭和32年）に架橋された下路式鋼ランガー桁橋。橋長200.2m、支間長90.0m、幅員9.6m。両端の桁橋部分は、コンクリート製アーチ型橋台端部に乗っているが固定はされていないゲルパー桁になっている。 国内最長のランガー橋であり、橋脚高は竣工時国内最高の42m。その大部分は水面下であり見えないが、実は急峻な谷間の高所に架けられた橋であることを想像しながら眺めると楽しい。 中央にはバルコニーも備えていて、足を止めて湖を眺めるにもよい。 夜になると橋灯の明かりが湖面に反射し、橋のフォルムと合わさって美しい。 奥多摩湖周辺は、当初観光地として開発される計画だった。そのため、湖畔を通る橋は観光資源となり得るよう、外観にもこ...
