Okutamako Rest Center Maruitei — Restaurant in Tokyo

Excellent scenic rest spot and parking area with ample wide parking spaces for you to stay as long as you like.

This is a public parking area that is own by Local Government, not the shops that line the parking area in front. You are not obligated to patronage these shops and restaurants and you can park anywhere you please, even right in front of the shops.

Unfortunately, the shops directly facing the parking area get offended and can be rude if you park your cars, bikes in front of their shop but do not buy anything or eat in there, pay no attention.

I highly recommend eating at the restaurant across the street instead, the service is hospitable and the food is fresh and prepared only on order, entirely different to the shops facing the parking area which are pre-prepped and serve...

A rest area that goes by very fast if you're heading by car or motorcycle toward Yamanashi on Route 411.

I stopped on the way back toward Tokyo. Parking is available but guessing it would be crowded during warmer days and weekend/holidays.

Toilets are clean; there are some shops for essentials but more for souvenirs.

View of Lake Tama isn't anything special, but this is a nice place to rest if you need a break...

土曜日のお昼時、混んでいるかなと思ったがお客さんは一組だけ。 室内クーラーが無く窓を開けているだけなので少々蒸し暑い。 今日の奥多摩の気温は２８度ぐらいで直射日光のところは熱いが日陰は涼しいからこちらの人たちの生活にはクーラーがいらないぐらいなのだろうが正直つらい。 これから猛暑日になると食事がきついかもしれないからハンド送風機を持ってゆくといい。

釜飯は具沢山でご飯の量もちょうどいい。これで1000円とはコスパが良い。 ご飯はちょっと薄味で硬い感じはする。 盛り付けて具だけを乗せた感じではなく直火で炊いたならカモの底が焦げ付いているはずだか綺麗。 火ではなく別な方法で炊いたのだと思える。

ヤマメとのセットは百円引きで１７００円。 焼き立てでヤマメというと小さい魚をイメージしていたが割合大きく食べ応えがあり蛋白で皮の塩をつけて食べるととても美味い。 山菜ラーメンは７００円で味が素朴な醤油味だが最後までスープを飲み干せるぐらい塩梅もいい。 ちょっと量的に物足りなさを感じるが悪くはない。聞いてはいないが大盛りがあるかはわからない。 私達が食べ終わる頃にはお客さんが入り始めてほぼ満席に近い状態になった。

最後に空調だけなんとかしてもらえれば汗だ...
