A very beautiful and peaceful park especially with sakura. We were greeted by a shower of sakura petals on entering. There is also a lake (which supplies drinking water) and an elevated walkway over the dike which offers breathtaking views. The stairs up to the wooden platform are thoughtfully made and of wood. From above there is the lake on one side as you walk and on the other, you can see a beautiful village with traditional looking roofs amidst the trees. There is a corner with swings, slides, twisted poles and such for younger kids to enjoy. We could also see a ferris wheel a few stone throws away. The stations and trains also don a rural cloak, though admittedly the service is limited and we had to take multiple lines to get there from Tokyo and back. Even in summer, when Tokyo can feel overwhelming, the shaded forest paths and the cool lake breeze make it a...

With every step west I felt more and more like I was venturing into a far off land. On the way seeing the 2nd part of tama lake made me feel like I had walked off the edge of the earth into an alternate dimension. Then I turned my sights north on Sayamako. After finally arriving I was quite impressed. The view of the lake along the whole of the dam is dare I say... An upgrade from Tama lake. Overall it is a very beautiful place which unleashes the inner...
