Thanks to my Japanese sister again for driving us from Hachinohe to Lake Towada each time my relatives and my colleagues visited Hachinohe. We were there April 2016, July 2017 and May 2019. Lake Towada is the biggest crater lake situated in Japan main island, Honshu. Along the way up to Lake Towada, we will pass the Oirase stream trail and Towada City. We will stopped at Oirase stream to take pictures of the waterfalls such as Kumoi waterfall, Choshi Otaki, Ashura Current, and Kujukushima, these are just a few of the many popular waterfalls and scenes in Oirase Gorge. Many visitors and photographers try their hand at taking the best picturesque shot.

If you come in Autumn, you would see all the trees that lined the Oirase stream turn into golden colors which I miss so far. Will go there in Autumn, the...

Beautiful lake and surroundings, a few hikes. Very natural and great. The one thing we didn't like is that it looked half abandoned and it was very inactive, all restaurants were closed and a lot of hotels/visitor centres were closed. That was in early July, we learnt afterwards that the high season there is autumn, but we would have liked to have more options for...

[SAVE + SHARE] Heading to Japan? Tokyo, Kyoto, & Osaka are great, but have you ever been to Aomori? Located in the northernmost part of Honshu Island, Aomoriโ€™s tranquil natural beauty makes it a welcome respite from bustling cities like Tokyo. Hereโ€™s some info to help you plan your trip: 1. To get to the Aomori prefecture, you can take the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo (about 3.5 hours one way) or a flight (1.5 to 2 hours). Driving time is 8-10 hours so I wouldnโ€™t recommend it. 2. While Aomori is suitable to visit year-round, its title as the snowiest city in the world means it turns into a winter wonderland come January and February. It gets an average of 25 feet of snow a year! Not into snow? Visit in October when the leaves change color, or in the spring during cherry blossom season. 3. Aomori is home to gorge-ous Oirase gorge and the breathtaking Lake Towada (which is a crater lake). Hiking through the gorge and boating across the lake are experiences that are not to be missed! 4. Aomori is known for its numerous onsen hot springsโ€” the prefecture once had the most public baths in all of Japan! If youโ€™re looking for an elevated onsen experience nestled in nature, check out Hoshino Resorts Oirase Keiryu Hotelโ€” this is where we stayed and it was top tier. 5. Be sure to sample the local cuisine! Aomori is famous for its apples (the prefecture produces over 50 million tons of apples annually, which accounts for more than 50% of Japanโ€™s apple harvest) and many dishes from the region incorporate them. Have you ever been to, or heard of, Aomori? Did you ever picture Japan looking like this? #JNTO #aomori #japan #traveltips #hoshinoresorts #้’ๆฃฎ #ad #paidad #oirasekeiryuhotel
