๐ Aomori and Akita 5-Day Tour in Japan ๐
๐ Day 1: Aomori - Towada Lake โถ๏ธ Start your day at the Fish and Vegetable Center Centa in front of Aomori Station for breakfast ๐ฃ Purchase meal tickets at the entrance, 2000 yen for 12 tickets. Don't miss the large scallops and sweet shrimp, they're incredibly sweet. The most famous seafood donburi, with your ticket, you'll get a bowl, and they'll fill it with rice. Then, take this bowl to various stalls to choose the sashimi and seafood you want to top your rice with. It's all self-service! ๐ฃ โถ๏ธ Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art: Supervised by renowned designer Shun Araki, inspired by the Sannai-Maruyama Ruins in Aomori, it sits like a white box in the open field, simple and solemn. I've always loved Yoshitomo Nara's cute and bizarre style ๐ถ. Seeing the Aomori dog in person was breathtaking; it's probably the largest Aomori dog you'll ever see. There's a permanent exhibition of Nara's works. Take bus number 6 from JR Station, and you'll arrive at the museum in 15 minutes. ๐ซ Admission is 510 yen per person. โถ๏ธ JR Aomori - Towada Lake Shuyu (Take the Towada North Line [Mizuumi] for 3 hours from JR Station, or use your PASS) ๐ก Stay: Towada Prince Hotel Located on the west side of the lake, away from tourist areas, with a walking path around the lake, very natural. The room rate includes breakfast and dinner. The dinner is Western-style, and the restaurant with floor-to-ceiling glass and onsen is fantastic. Opt for a lake-view room to gaze at the colored waters and distant mountains, it's very relaxing. ๐ธ The hotel offers a SHUTTLE BUS to and from JR Aomori/Hachinohe and Towada Lake Shuyu Bus Station, which is convenient for independent travelers. ๐ Day 2: Towada Lake - Hachinohe (by bus) โถ๏ธ Okunose Gorge Flowing out from Towada Lake, the water flow varies from gentle to rapid along the way, with green shades covering both sides. It's very comfortable to take a walk or hike along the path. โถ๏ธ Towada City Museum of Art The most enjoyable art museum in all of Japan in my opinion. ๐ซ 1200 yen, and you can re-enter as many times as you like. Both indoor and outdoor areas are beautiful, and there's a Cafe where you can enjoy the Aomori standard: apple curry with apple pie for lunch. ๐ก Stay: Hachinohe Owarai Roynet Hotel ๐ Day 3: Hachinohe - Return to Tokyo (3 hours by Shinkansen) โถ๏ธ Tatehana Ichi Market, only on Sundays from 5-9 AM One of the three major morning markets in Japan, claimed to be the largest in scale. The morning market is 800 meters long with many shops selling a wide variety of food, fresh products, and daily necessities. From Hachinohe's specialty seafood, grilled fish, vegetables, rice, udon noodles, and more to daily goods, you can find everything here. โถ๏ธ Hachinohe Food Center: Take bus number 4 from JR Station for ten minutes to Hachinohe Shokudo Station, which is the seafood barbecue market. The fare is 100 yen one way. A little further into the market, you'll find a shop called Nanamuri Village. For 400 yen per person for two hours, you get a seat, a charcoal stove, seasonings, chopsticks, plates, wet wipes, and other tools. After paying, you'll be taken to your seat and given a shopping basket, so you can go shopping in the market for seafood. Once you've bought it, you can DIY your barbecue here. ๐ Back to Tokyo #AomoriTravel #AkitaTourism #JREastJapan #JapanFreeTravel #JapanTravelGuide #OffTheBeatenPath #JapanTravel #JapanArtMuseums
