Nitobe Memorial Museum — Attraction in Towada

This fantastic little museum has a lot of local history packed into it. It’s main focus is the Nitobe family and their accomplishments for both the local area and the world. The place is run by volunteers and admission is free, but they do ask for a donation to help keep it running. The volunteer that was there today took the time to explain all of the exhibits to us and give us a detailed history or each thing we asked for specifics on. 最大の疑問は、新渡戸稲造はクリスチャンなのに何で新渡戸記念館が鳥居の中にあるのだという疑問。非常に深い内容ですが、神社の意味合いを存じ上げないと理解が難しいかもです。徳川家康で説明すると日光東照宮は家康を埋葬し守神になると言って作っています。新渡戸稲造さんのお爺さんもそういう意味合いです。 大変に勉強になり有意義でした。 新渡戸稲造のお爺ちゃんの南部藩の志あっぱれです。...
