Hagurosan Gojunoto (Five Story Pagoda) — Attraction in Tsuruoka

Hagurosan Gojunoto is a 5 storey pagoda in the middle of a cedar forest. Mt Hagurosan is one of the three sacred mountains of the Dewa region in Japan.

The tower is a 15-25 minutes walk in and the terrain is easy to walk on. You can also admire the calmness of the forest and enjoy the tranquility.

It seems like a pilgrimage just to walk in to visit the tower. So enjoy the scenery while you can.

I visited here on July 14th to hike Mt. Hagora. It was beautiful and calm. There are free parking lots around. After you enter the temple you will see lots of small shrines on the way. Soon a river with a red bridge welcomes you to deep into the nature. Pagoda is very close here. It is mainly before starting the steps up to the mountain.
