I come here quite often. I live within 5 minutes of driving distance of this Castle. There are two ways you can access the ruins. One is the street below, And you climb a beautiful old staircase to get up to where the castle ruins are, and the other is the parking lot. You have to walk up a trail to get up to the area where the ruins are. There is an amazing view overlooking the city below from this castle. It's very peaceful here because I have never encountered anyone there while I have been there and I have been here at least six times. Very well...

伊波城跡は別名伊波グスクとも呼はれ、石川市街地を北東側に見降ろす標高87mの丘陵に位置し、東西45m、南北52mの範囲に一重の石垣をめぐらせた単郭式の城で面積は3712㎡の比較的小のグスクといえます。
城壁は自然の地形を巧みにとりこみながら石垣をS字状にくねらせ、自然石をはとんど加工せすに積み上げていく野面積という技法で作られています。
平成元年(1989年)の発崛調査によって城内の地下50cmから数回の立替をしたと思われる無数の柱穴跡が発見され、掘っ立て柱建物の存在が確認されました。 また大量の地元産土器や外国産土器中国産の青磁や白磁、三彩陶器・掲釉陶器・染付・南島産の須恵器なども出土しており、伊波按司の交易の広さと力を知る事がてます。 また当時の人々の食べ残した員殼や魚や猪の骨なども出土しています。
これらの遺物は13世紀後半から15世紀のものが多く出土していますが、同特に貝塚時代の土器も多数出土しており、約二千八百年前の貝塚が伊波グスクを含めたこの丘陵全体にあったことがうかがわれ、この地域が古代から人々の重要な居住地であったことが改めて教えてくれ...
