八雲町情報交流物産館 丘の駅 — Attraction in Yakumo

Lots of reviews saying it can be accessed from the local road, but they lock the gate at 6pm and you can only stay overnight in the motorway side, which involves paying the toll. I didn't realise and arrived here Sunday afternoon. They are closed Monday too, so now I don't know if it's worth paying the toll to park overnight or if I should just drive elsewhere. It does look like a great michi no eki, if only it was open it might even be worth paying...

The rest stop was shrouded in clouds and mist when we arrived and it was lovely and cool. The lookout point was in the midst of the clouds and it felt like we were walking literally among the clouds. There was a little cafe and gelato place off to the side of the rest stop down some stairs and it gave a panoramic view of the surroundings with a farm next door. We enjoyed our stop...

Such a nice place to stop at while driving. This roadside stop has clean restrooms, a large indoor play area for children, a small cafe, and a small shop. The shop has local vegetables for sale and other local items as well. Our family was thankful for this place to get out of the car, run around some, play some, get some snacks, and then...
