A great day trip from Tokyo if you love walking by the beach or beachcombing. A lot of ceramics and sea glass wash up on this shore, and on any given afternoon you’ll find a few people combing the beach for treasures while chatting or walking their dogs. There’s a nearby lighthouse replica from the Edo period (~350 years ago) as well, though the explanation sign is only in Japanese. If you walk along the beach away from the town, you also run into a prison, which is an odd sight on the beachfront.

The area has many different flowers as well blooming in the spring. The beach itself is quiet, serene and not so crowded - it’s set within a cove which you walk along the coast.
