There's a little playground here with slides and monkey bars.
Then there's the Bellagio of Yokosuka water fountain show once in a while. It sprays along with music for about 15m. Neat to see at least once.
Can't speak for the male latrines, but the female ones by the fountain are the squat kind. If you like toilets, then take the ship tour and use the toilets with heated seats. Aaahhhh.
The ship tour was 600Y for an adult and the little kids are free. There seems to be an option to pay extra for a guided tour. Otherwise follow the given map or arrows around the ship. There are also buttons for Japanese or English at some of the exhibits that tell you what you're looking at. Bring 100Y if you want to use the binoculars. There's also a commemorative coin machine down below for 500Y. You choose the coin and then what you want...
Read moreThe warship was very interesting, interactive and educational. My husband really enjoyed everything to offer. There was a volunteer ex-naval captain present on the day we visited. He was so kind and talked to us a lot about his time in service and the history of the ship. He also aided us in using the 3D experience and a general chat. He spoke perfect English. Our son enjoyed looking through the periscope and moving the guns in various positions. He is just 4 and found it very fun to be on such a large ship, although he imagined it tp be a pirate ship. Later, he had a play at the childrens play ground right next to the ship. He enjoyed...
Read moreMikasa park is a small, quiet park that is the home toe the famous imperial ship MIKASA (where the name of the park comes from). Mikasa park is located to the left of Wimbledon gate, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, making it easily accessible by foot from thr military base, and from the local Keikyu line stop (Yokosuka Chuo). In the park you'll find a peaceful path to walk, and a great view of Tokyo Bay, Yokohama, and Monkey Island. During spring, summer, and fall months, a few festivals are hosted here, the best (in my opinion) of which is the Curry festival. Of course the ship MIKASA is there, which is affordable and informative. I don't believe they offer English tour guides, but the placards are in English, so if you can't read Japanese you'll still be able to enjoy...
