隈研吾が設計し、1994年に開業した「雲の上ホテル」に隣接する「雲の上の温泉」からホテルへ移動するための渡り廊下として2010年に造られたが、ホテルが老朽化のため2021年に休業して取り壊されたため、このブリッジが取り残された形で建っている。 ギャラリーから渡り廊下を進むと、温泉棟横に降りられるエレベーターがあって、今も稼働している。 雲の上のホテルは、引き続き隈研吾の事務所が設計を担うが、当初2024年の再建予定が、資材高騰のため遅れており、報道では、当初計画から大幅に小規模化して2027年オープン予定のようだ。 新しい雲の上のホテルが完成すれば、本来の役割である渡り廊下として再び使われるようになるだろ...

高知県高岡郡梼原町にある道の駅 ゆすはらに隣接しているギャラリーです。2010年竣工とのこと。 時間の関係であまり長く滞在できませんでしたが、こちらの建物は是非見たくて立ち寄りました。 梼原町には有名建築家の隈研吾さんが手がけられた建築作品が多数ありますが、こちらもその一つで実際に近くでみるとすごく迫力がありました。 梼原産の杉をふんだんに使って組み上げられていますが、結局最後は中心の柱に全部集中するんじゃないの？と素人目には感じてしまいますが、左右対称にバランスすることでうまく成立しているんでしょうね。 入口は階段を登った側の方です。無意識に楽したくてエレベーター側に引き寄せられますがそちらからは登れません。 訪問時期：2024年4月
