You MUST visit this if on holiday. The bunker is open on selected Sundays during the year. It's very well worth the visit. With walls made of reinforced concrete (2m thick, with a roof 3m thick), it really would of sustained heavy bombings. The bunker is full of history. You take in more when lively children aren't with you! Incredible historic hike around entire Western coastline, with spectacular view and lots of seats along the way to rest and enjoy the views. Tracks are well established and lots of side tracks down to beaches and around the WW2 bunkers and artillery locations.
This location is the first heavy artillery position, in range to interdict naval traffic and fire support for rest of coast to the North and Atlantic Wall beach approaches to the South East.
