The Jin Mao Tower, situated in the heart of Shanghai's Lujiazui financial district, is a masterful blend of architectural prowess and functional elegance. Soaring to a height of 421 meters, this skyscraper commands attention with its distinctive tiered design, reminiscent of ancient Chinese pagodas, yet infused with a modern aesthetic. Upon entering the tower, visitors are greeted by a grand atrium that spans several floors, adorned with intricate details and luxurious materials. The tower's interior seamlessly combines traditional Chinese design elements with contemporary touches, creating a sophisticated ambiance. Riding the express elevators to the observation deck on the 88th floor is a thrilling experience, offering panoramic views of the sprawling cityscape, the Huangpu River, and the neighboring skyscrapers. The architectural ingenuity is evident in the tower's structural design, incorporating advanced engineering to withstand earthquakes and typhoons common to the region. One of the Jin Mao Tower's unique features is its multi-functional nature. Housing a luxury hotel, offices, and observation decks, it serves as a microcosm of urban living, making it a symbol of Shanghai's economic and cultural dynamism. The tower's integration of sustainable practices further underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility. In summary, the Jin Mao Tower is more than a towering structure; it's a testament to architectural innovation, cultural fusion, and urban functionality. Its enduring appeal lies not only in its height but in its ability to seamlessly integrate tradition and modernity in the vibrant tapestry of Shanghai's skyline.

To get to the area where the lift to the viewing platform is can be a little tricky to find first of all but then it’s straightforward. My husband and I had pre-booked the Skywalk, after some confused faces of staff who didn’t quite understand what we were showing them on the phone finally someone understood and we were give priority access in to the lift and were up within minutes. The viewing area is very spacious with lots of angles to get some decent pictures, we didn’t have the most clear day which was a shame but it was good enough. There are places to get snacks and souvenirs as well. Then came the Skywalk, the two members of staff didn’t speak any English (not their fault of course) but it made communication difficult and they already didn’t appear to be in the best of moods. The experience itself was fantastic and something I would definitely recommend to others, being able to lean over the edge, have a bit of fun and sit enjoying the view with the wind in your face was thrilling. The only down side is the camera they use to take your pictures isn’t the best quality so it looks almost like you have been photoshopped in to the view.

This iconic skyscraper is a true gem in the city's skyline, and I highly recommend adding it to your itinerary. First and foremost, the views from the top are simply breathtaking. As you ascend to the observation deck, you'll be treated to panoramic vistas of Shanghai's sprawling metropolis. The sheer scale and density of the cityscape are mesmerizing, especially when viewed from such a remarkable height. The modern skyscrapers, historical landmarks, and the meandering Huangpu River create a mesmerizing tapestry that truly showcases Shanghai's vibrant energy. The architecture of the Jin Mao Tower itself is a masterpiece. The design seamlessly combines elements of traditional Chinese culture with contemporary aesthetics. Overall, the Jin Mao Tower is a must-see attraction in Shanghai. Whether you're a fan of architecture, a lover of impressive views, or simply looking to experience the city from a different perspective, this tower will not disappoint. I highly recommend allocating some time to explore this architectural marvel and soak in the awe-inspiring vistas it offers.

The Jin Mao Tower, standing tall at 420.5 meters (88 floors) in Shanghai’s Lujiazui district, is one of the city’s most iconic skyscrapers. While it’s often overshadowed by the nearby Shanghai Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center, Jin Mao has a unique thrill that sets it apart: the Skywalk—a glass-free outdoor walk around the tower's 88th floor. Skywalk Experience – The Highlight: Free Walk, No Railings: Unlike most observation decks with glass enclosures, the Jin Mao Skywalk lets you walk along a narrow platform on the edge of the tower— completely exposed, with no railing, just a safety harness. It’s one of the few experiences of its kind in the world. Adrenaline + Views: The 360° view of Shanghai’s futuristic skyline, the Huangpu River, and even the Oriental Pearl Tower below your feet, is absolutely breathtaking. It’s the ultimate mix of thrill and beauty, especially on a clear day. Photos Included: Staff take professional photos of you during the walk, and many packages include digital copies or prints as part of the ticket price.

Jin Mao Tower is the 3rd tallest building in Shanghai. The building is located in the Pudong New area, where you can find it on the map as well. It is almost 1,380 feet tall. At the ground, floor tickets are sold. Every 30 minutes, 15 visitors are allowed to enter. So mind this time when you are going to schedule your daily trip. The elevator that reaches the top of this building is super fast (nearly 30 ft/s). It took us less than a minute to reach to 88th sightseeing floor from the ground floor. There is a service that is called: "wander in the cloud". That means that visitors can walk along a 60-meter-long and 1.2-meter-wide glass skywalk without rails. The weather was so polluted as you can see from the photo that I sent. So, the view was not clear. But it is really worth visiting this building.

We went up at the Jin Mao Tower which was right beside the Shanghai Tower to see the view of the Bund and the cityscape of Shanghai. This building has a viewdeck at the topmost floor. Upon entering the lift, there is a photo booth for groups and individuals. You can claim your photos if you decide to buy the printouts on your way down at the exit. The elevator was very fast and like most viewpoint towers, it has a souviner shop and an interactive game booth on the same level. The building has a hollow core where you can see the cafe at the bottom. The view was really nice that day. The sky was a bit cloudy. There were a lot of tourists when we visited but not crowded. There were areas where you can just sit and enjoy the view. It is always nice to see the city from above.
