Super cool concept of enabling the community to earn a living from breeding butterflies. There’s information on the lifecycle of butterflies and the type or butterflies in the area. Also shows the communities that benefit from this project. Entry is 100ksh for adults and 50ksh for kids. Meaningful work!

Kipepeo Butterfly's house and attached snake farm in Watamu is recommended and very informative on snakes and butterflies. Unfortunately, the washrooms and toilets are below any standard and not suitable for foreign visitors.

Lovely community project that benefits the environment and families around the forest. Nice place to take children who are curious and love to see animals and learn about conservation

Kipepeo stands for butterfly in swahili. Kipepeo butterfly project, in Gede, on the coast of Kenya, is a small community-based project that links conservation and development. It helps local farmers to earn a living from the forest by rearing butterfly and moth pupae for export to live exhibits and butterfly houses in Europe, America.and Arabic countries. Serious farmers can make as much as 6000 shillings a month. There is I enclosed space with brushes and flowers where butterflies fly free around. A friendly guide shows you around and gives additional information using charts on the walls. There is also an area where pupae are kept to hatch. A very...

One pupa goes at 75 Kenyans shillings one butterfly can lay 400eggs. I thought that...
