I visited Lamb’s Rock Viewpoint in Coonoor during June, and although the experience was peaceful and refreshing, the weather was quite cloudy that day, which limited visibility. This viewpoint is well-known for offering a unique opportunity to see the borders of three southern states — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka — from a single vantage point. Unfortunately, due to the dense mist and cloud cover during my visit, that view wasn’t visible. Despite the weather, I still enjoyed the cool mountain air, the lush surroundings, and the silence of the forest around the viewpoint. The area is surrounded by tea estates, and the drive to the spot is scenic with several photo-worthy moments along the way. There are safety railings at the viewpoint, and the platform offers a wide viewing angle — if you’re lucky with the weather, the view can be absolutely stunning. There were a few local vendors selling hot snacks and tea, which were very welcome in the chilly weather. The place was moderately crowded, but not too busy, so I could enjoy some quiet time. My suggestion: try visiting earlier in the day when skies are clearer, especially outside the monsoon months, for the best views. Even without the famous tri-state visibility, Lamb’s Rock is a peaceful and worthwhile stop if you’re exploring Coonoor. one of the unexpected highlights was a sweet interaction I had with a group of monkeys near the viewpoint. The monkeys around the area seem familiar with people and are surprisingly polite if not provoked. While feeding wild animals is generally discouraged, this brief moment felt harmless and heartwarming. If you visit, enjoy watching the monkeys—they can be quite entertaining and curious—but always be cautious, avoid overfeeding, and keep your belongings secure!
