Alūksnes Bānīša stacijas ekspozīcija — Attraction in Alūksne

Noise canceling earphones or airplugs are recommended!! Please be careful visiting this place if you have anxiety or want to enjoy relaxed time on your vacation. Although the idea of this museum might be great, the execution fails a bit and this is a place where technology and application of multimedia has gone a bit off.

The museum exposition has been created to represent a journey in the train where visitors can sit next to wi dows (video screens) and listen to different storeys from people who have certain memories related to the old train. Unfortunately all of these stories are played on loudspeakers, which means that while you sit down to try to listen to one of the stories, you will also be exposed to a cacophony of sound comimg from about 10 other nearby spots. This is very disturbing and instead of having an jmmersive experience and enjoyment of learning something new, you get bombarded with a bunch of incoherent sound from all over the place. I would higly recommend the museum not to play all of these audio stories at once or instal dedicated earphones so that the visitors can calmly sot down and listen to them one by one without unnecessary distractions.

There were supposed to be also some 3d expositions with virtual reality glasses, however neither of 2 devices functioned. Smartphone dropped out from one of the devices and the other was on some standby mode.

Apart from the audiovisual exposition there are some interestinf artefacts related to the history of train.

This seems like a brave project and it can definitely be a great experience, but it requires a bit of finetuning to make sure that the technology is really creating advantage instead of...

Сверхзадачей поездки в Алуксне я поделился с читателем в описании гостиницы "Иоланта", здесь же хочется чуточку рассказать о празднике поезда, на который мы попали заведомо зная о событии в сентябре 2014 года. А было 111 лет узкоколейной железной дороге Алуксне - Гулбене. Праздник был бы из ряда - таких куча, если бы не главный виновник торжества. А это сам Поезд ! Встречали его на станции Алуксне с цветами и оркестром многочисленные туристы (вроде нас) и сами жители, фермеры и ремесленники, которым праздничная оживлённая торговля тоже была как праздник. Кульминацией стала поездка в воссозданных вагончиках состава до Гулбене и обратно. Один вагончик был обустроен под кафе на колёсах, пользующийся популярностью у молодожёнов, остальные были максимально приближены по антуражу к 100 летней давности. Если захотите попасть на праздник поезда - ищите точную дату на сайте в сентябре каждого года. Но юбилейные и необычные даты сами...
