A Hidden Gem Discovered by Chance – Pure Bliss! We stumbled upon Atpūtas komplekss Mikelītis completely by chance, and it turned out to be one of those rare, unforgettable discoveries you just want to share. Although we didn’t stay overnight, we stopped for a late lunch – and what a fantastic experience it was.

From the moment we arrived, the whole place had a peaceful, welcoming energy. The service was exceptional – warm, genuine, and attentive without ever feeling forced. It made us feel like valued guests rather than just visitors passing through.

The food? Absolutely delicious – a full 10/10. Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care. You could feel the pride behind what was being served, and it showed in every bite.

What truly made the experience stand out was the setting. We were lucky to be there on a sunny day and had the chance to enjoy our lunch outside in the garden. Surrounded by greenery, birdsong, and total tranquility, it felt like a peaceful little retreat away from the noise of everyday life.

We didn’t have the time to explore everything the place has to offer – like the retro car museum and the nearby river – which gives us all the more reason to come back. It’s clear that Mikelītis isn’t just a place to eat or stay – it’s an experience waiting to be enjoyed at a slower pace.

Near the city of Bauska (about 15 km.), an interesting discovery in this region is the Mikelis recreation complex, which is located next to the Mūsa River. A fairly quiet oasis surrounded by fields and nature. The complex includes a restaurant, a car museum, an open-air ethnographic museum and a hotel. Ethnographic museum 🛖 (5⭐️)- a residential house, a barn, two granaries, a barn and a forge - a Zemgale village homestead. The exposition of the retro car 🚗 museum (5⭐️) is quite large with interesting exhibits. The restaurant 🍽 (5⭐️) is distinguished by a small selection of dishes, but a perfectly balanced variety of different tastes in one dish. The hotel 🏢 (4+⭐️) - with separate entrances, terraces or loft-type rooms. Minus - on a hot day the air conditioning system in the room is very missing - it is quite hot. Although the windows have nets, this is not an obstacle for very thirsty mosquitoes 😁 to get inside the room, because the net is not properly attached and there are gaps. I don't understand why this is not 4 or 5 star hotel. This place is AMAZING :) We stayed fir one night but couldn't leave next day without wondering arround and checking unbelievable old car collection (really great worker showed us arround and told a bit about everything).
