Sv. Jura baznīca celta 14.gadsimtā, blakus Livonijas ordeņa pilij (Neu-Kirchholm) Daugavas labajā krastā. Tā nopostīta vairākkārt –arī 1577. gadā un 1605. gada septembrī lielajā Salaspils kaujā. 1613. gadā tā atjaunota pēc poļu hetmaņa Hodkeviča pavēles. Viņš pateicībā Dievam par piešķirto uzvaru baznīcai personiski ziedoja līdzekļus. ‘’Zviedru laikos” baznīca pārbūvēta. 1896. gadā pēc arhitekta G.Kroona projekta vecā ēka kapitāli pārbūvēta, Pirmajā pasaules karā atkal sapostīta un līdz 1934. gadam atjaunota. Altāri rotāja K.Miesnieka 1930. gadā gleznotā "Dienišķā maize". No 17gs. 30.gadiem līdz 20.gs. vidum baznīca bija luterāņu draudzes dievnams un neatņemama Salaspils ainavas sastāvdaļa. Otrajā pasaules karā baznīcai sašauts jumts, izbiruši stikli, taču citādi nav skarta: izlaupīta un sagrauta pēckara "uzplaukuma gados". Šodien Sv. Jura baznīcas drupas atrodas Rīgas HES ūdenskrātuves malā. Virs altārdaļas mūra uzstādīts krusts. Netālu no baznīcas atradās Livonijas ordeņa pils (14.-16.gs.) drupas un Zviedru skansts. Daugavā pretī baznīcai atradās Mārtiņsala, kur risinājās Indriķa hronikā aprakstītie notikumi.HES būves laikā baznīcas mūros ierīko mehāniskās darbnīcas. 1973. gadā Sv.
