One of the best castle tours in Lithuania. The main palace is a museum housing artifacts from the stone age to modern history. The museum is organized by historical periods - from Commonwealth to Czarist Russia, independent Lithuania and Soviet times, giving authentic sense of atmosphere in each period from the unique perspective of Birzai, which was a Duchy for a long time. Its not too formal and plenty of household items from musical instruments of each period to photos and paintings give a good sense what it was like to live during these times. Don't miss the virtual reenactment at a side building "Arsenalas" how the castle was taken by swedes 300 years ago during Swedish wars and...

Maybe I am a little biased in my judgment. The bias is due to the fact that more than 18years ago i celebrated my marriage in Birzai Pilis. But i could testimony how things have changed in this years. The castle was almost completely reconstructed. In those years another building, now the house of the museum, was also reconstructed. The park is nice and the green colors of the grass and trees are always fascinating me. Moreover ot is possible to have lunch in the basement of the castle, or visit the library, as well as walking on the remaing of the fortified walls and have a look at the lake just nearby. It's a place worth a stop if you are...

Beautiful castle with a large museum exhibition. Entrance is €5 per person and you get to visit the museum which has three floors and the arsenal building located right next to the castle. The exhibition was interesting. The organisation of the exhibits could have been better. Also, there’s not so much history that would be specific to the Biržai region. The video in the arsenal building is poorly made. After spending 15 min watching the film we were left with so many questions. Overall it was a great 2 hours spent wandering around the museum and its...
