Men's toilet here is poorly maintained. Wet, muddy and stinks from urine. Obviously inadequate cleaning. Tap head leaks water. Water dripping from damp and mouldy ceiling board. Shameful condition. Outside the toilet stands an overflowing rubbish bin with litter on the ground. Anyone can see the beautification efforts of the Middle Station is lame, half-hearted and lacking in seriousness. Penang Hill Corporation please take note lah! Meanwhile, 7-8 members of your staff are loitering at Viaduct Station in mid- morning messing with their hps and whiling their time away.
Good view of the Air Itam valley n the Penang Bridge stretching right in front of your eyes n tired body from this vantage point. Train stops once every hour to pick up hill residents n hikers. Below you is a long steep flight of approximately 1430 steps to the base station below. You can also choose to use the Hye Keat trail or the other trail heading sideways towards Air Itam town. If not, start hiking uphill for another 45-50 minutes until you reach the top of the hill. Place is mostly empty except for the occasional hikers.
Back up here in February 2023. No more water leaks from ceiling board and the floor is dry. However, the badly stained and damaged ceiling boards need replacing as they are an eye sore. Urine stench still there and one tap head still drips water. March 2023 and the litter bin outside the toilets is overflowing with rubbish. Do better, Pg Hill...

Staff stationed at the time ignored us and kept playing on his phone. When we got his attention, he dismissed us in a very rude manner and in a scolding tone to just walk down to lower station. This place is a tourist spot but the staff looks like not fit to interact with tourists. We had a good time in Penang Hill but this spoiled...
Read moreFollowing the Penang Heritage Trail after about one hour you will reach the Penang Hill Middle Station. Personally I would ignore the many sites that say this trek is easy. Sure its a path that's easy to follow, but I think it's physically challenging if you're a beginner. I did this four times during my stay and I saw many people turning back or running out of water. Come prepared, plenty and water and mosquito spray. After climbing the many steps you will be rewarded with great views...
