The 1st stop we made when we arrived at Desaru - Desaru Alpaca Farm.
We chose this farm first because it is newer as compared to the nearby Mini Zoo and both have positive reviews.
This farm is owned and managed by a humble and well mannered family. The owner himself (in red, black and white top) is very hands on and was very attentive to ensure that his visitors, mainly families with kids, are enjoying themselves and having a great time learning about the animals in his farm.
He owns a metal business in Desaru and this was his humble venture to have a chance to own and care for animals he is passionate about, as well as to share this joy with other families who visit Desaru.
His kids were there to help run his farm when we visited. His eldest was there at the reception collecting entrance fees. And when we went in, we were lucky to be greeted by his passionate young son, aged 9, who brought us around the entire farm and brought us into the enclosure to have a up close and personal experience with the animal themselves.
We were very lucky, as we were the only family there that got this treatment. Not sure why, but maybe Reis' fairy godmother inspired the boy to avail himself to bring us this special tour around his farm.
The crowd here is definitely not as big as the one in Mini Zoo but this place is mostly sheltered, so we were spared the scorching sun when we were there. We were able to really enjoy the time feeding the animal and daddy was able to take photos and videos of the kids without sweat dripping all over his face. That's a plus indeed!
This family owned farm deserve a support and a stopover because endeavors like this must be protected and treasured, so they don't have to close down due to lack of customers. Price wise, slightly higher than mini zoo but definitely worth it. Feeds are priced at RM3 a bowl, so it is very value for money. The experience for the kids, though, is priceless.
What blown us away at this farm was the passion displayed by the owner's kids, especially his 9 years old boy. We even gave him a small tip to encourage him to keep up his awesome work. This family is the epitome of a great parenting, and we can definitely see why - they have a hardworking, entrepreneurial, down-to-earth dad who was so welcoming, friendly and genuine.
Oh, not to mention that they other cutie that mesmerized us was the cute gecko they have!! She was...
Read moreon 29th of june, me and my girlfriend visited Desaru alpaca farm. I am here giving highly compliment to the red shirt girl who make our visit become very fun and memorable. We start noticed her during at the guinea pig station. While, other staff busy holding guinea pig for tourist to take picture. she holding a guinea pig and ask us want to hold it and take photo? .We feel happy finally someone take guinea pig for us to take photo cause guinea pig run very fast. We unable to catch them. From here, she start her explain how to hold it in correct way, its living habits and what is in their food menu. After that, she followed us in to all station of animals and explain to us what is do and don'ts to the animals. she understand the animal very well. I still can remember that i ask a lot question e.g. why didn't build any ponds for the tortoise. she say this is land tortoise. it doesn't need to swim and more sunlight can help to stronger their shell. We really absorb new knowledge in fun way.
Besides that, this girl also have bravery and calm for any situation. this is because when we enter to goat' cage. The ram are charging toward me. i was scared cause i saw too many videos ram charging and knock down people. so, i start step back and ready to run. she say don' t worry, it just target the food in your hand. I give the food to the goat to distract it and i quickly go out. The ram is too scary. But, i still impressed by the bravery of her.
she say the alpaca farm just open for 5 months and they keep developing. Many kinds of animals are in process to come to Malaysia in order to give us a good time with animals. This place suitable for someone who love to spend their time with the lovely animals like us. We will definitely come to...
Read moreSaw their farm on Facebook decided to drive from sg to desaru just for this farm. Farm is spacious and airy. Kids has ample of space running around to see. But what sadden me is, there’s no staff/worker walking around to supervise. there is 2 worker walking ard, they simply don’t care. went on a sat, it was crowded w kids. The kids self-serviced and carried the animals by themselves. Especially the hamster and Guinea pig area, those kids just anyhow grab the poor pets by it “neck, ear” and they were laughing away, you can see the animals are shaking n trembling w fear. Their parents don’t care either. When I was there, there was this very rough boy who grab the hamster by pinching w 2 finger on its back area and put it in the Guinea pig area then transferred the hamster out of the hamster tank and put it on the top of the tank bar (it was high btw)
The Guinea pig mother was nursing half way for its baby and they grab the baby out and they were passing around. Kids anyhow carried the bunnies and they were struggling till they drop the rabbit on floor. I won’t recommend going unless u like to see kids chasing all the poor animals, catching them, passing around like a furry toy. Not to mention, the animal there looks sick.. if u would like to know how it looks like, u can view their Facebook. Some even tag them w their kids catching their animals and are struggling 😢 Please improve in this. Hope you get worker to...
