Taman Merdeka, Johor Bahru — Attraction in Johor

See many joggers here and even someone doing a 1 Ringgit massage business here! Super cool. Really love the vibe of this place. Seems like the only proper park around JB near the custom to SG. Wishing there were more parks around here to mix with the city life here. Unfortunately I think this is the way Malaysia works (not usually maintaining things well - I mean this as a fact and not as a diss) though I know there are still many amazing humans here too. If developers were willing to build parks next to their homes, maybe it'd be a comfortable and balanced livelihood too. The park was not the cleanest but it is considered quite clean in Malaysia standards I believe. I'm not so sure about the public toilets here and what else is open/closed as there seems to be many other facilities around but again- were either not built finished or not well maintained. I think there is a mix of history here as well in some of the murals so that was really interesting to see and take pictures of. Overall, I'd come here again and is a super chillaxing place to be - as I can see many families, couples and friends hanging...

Updated : Now they have Beam Scooter on site. Beware kena scam ya. Scooter no battery also kena charge RM5.60. What a rip off!!! Don't believe the banner free ride!!! Tempat dah ok. Sayang a lot of facilities left abandoned. Look out tower was cordoned off maybe due to safety reasons. So called "kids pool" dried up. Maybe coz MCO... but it's already been quiet some time already. Saw a few workers working but don't see them working on the abandoned facilities instead working on something new... the pond was amazing ecspecially for children. So many fish and turtle... Hope the authorities can fix up this area ecspecially those abandoned facilities. Surely a lot more...
