Taman Botanical Labuan is a peaceful and charming escape boasting both natural beauty and deep colonial roots. Once the site of the Government House (“Bumbung 12”) built in 1852, the estate today showcases lush tropical flora—hibiscus gardens, herb plots, orchids, heliconias, palms, and ferns—set among majestic old trees believed to have been planted by Sir Hugh Low . Visitors wander scenic paths with tranquil lakes, a graceful arched bridge, a treehouse overlooking water, gazebos, a reflexology track, and playgrounds—ideal for strolls or family outings . Notable historical remnants include a lone water storage tank and colonial-era graves, including that of a foxhound named “Jim” (1908), adding a unique touch of heritage to the serene environment . Free to enter and open daily, it’s a hidden gem waiting to be explored.
