My family and I took a road trip to Kuala Pilah today, and our second stop was the Sam Seng Keong Temple after having breakfast at Sinaran Coffee Shop. The first thing that struck me was the beautiful harmony between different religions, as the temple is located right beside a Muslim mosque. It was incredibly touching to see how the believers of two different faiths coexist peacefully in the same town, showing mutual respect and harmony.
The temple, despite its 126-year history, is impressively clean and well-maintained by local volunteers. We had the pleasure of meeting two uncles who take care of the temple. They were incredibly kind and took the time to explain the history, the deities, and the proper procedure for praying. What touched me the most was their openness and warmth, especially towards one of our family members who is not Buddhist. They made it clear that everyone, regardless of race or belief, is welcome in the temple as long as they respect the space.
The displays and relics in the temple are truly ancient and rich with history. I sincerely hope that this beautiful temple continues to stand for many, many decades to come. Entrance is free so It’s a must-visit if you’re in...
