My kids and I, we came to Gopeng for an adventure and we had an awesome time!!!
We started at 9am at the Ulu River Lodge. Our guide, Awati, invited us to a simple breakfast spread. After that we selected our helmets and Awa drove us to Gua Tempurung, the 2nd biggest cave in Malaysia. This cave has 4 levels. Level 1 and 2 can be explored by yourself without a guide. It is accessible by 600 plus steps. You need a guide to explore level 3 and 4. This is where it gets exciting. You will walk, climb and crawl to experience this STUNNING cave that is full of history.
You need your headlamp, 100plus, chocolates or anything to give you energy for the 4hour caving experience. Travel light, use a waterproof bag, it helps. I wore rubber shoes but I did not wear socks so, tiny pebbles kept getting inside especially when you are in water and it makes it difficult and painful to walk. So wear socks.😊
Great if you come equipped with knee and elbow pads as well. Don't worry if you don't have them, I managed to finish without them. It was tiring and we took a lot of rests in between. This was our first time caving. Would we do it again? A definite YES!
After a delicious lunch prepared at the lodge, we headed out for our next adventure.
We hopped onto a lorry which took us to the place where we were going to whitewater rafting. Bob was our guide who helped us with our life jackets, paddle and helmets. He then briefed us on the safety guidelines. Then it was time to hit the waters. We had to carry the raft to the river. Bob made sure we were safe and gave us clear instructions on how to manoeuvre the raft, esp when we went over the rapids.
It's really a fun and exhilarating family activity to do. We were so exhausted by the end of the day but we will do it all over again.... another day☺️
Btw, the booking process was easy and info given prior to our trip was good.
We would like to thank the staff for their...
Read moreI recently participated in this activity and had a great time overall. It’s an awesome experience for individuals or families looking for fun and adventure. The team was highly professional and provided a comprehensive safety briefing before we began, which made us feel confident and secure.
Special mention goes to our guide, Alim, who was fantastic. He was professional, friendly, and ensured we knew how to make the most of the experience. His guidance added a lot of value to the activity.
The activity itself is stated to be 90 minutes long, which includes some rafting and a bit of waiting for the other boats. However, the time felt reasonable and enjoyable, so I didn’t mind the slight waiting here and there. Overall, it’s a well-paced activity that’s both exciting and memorable.
However, one thing significantly dampened the experience. During the activity, I was told that photos and videos would be sent to me afterward. Naturally, I was excited to have a keepsake of such a great time. But after the activity, when I followed up, I was informed that the photos and videos were chargeable, something I wasn’t told beforehand. The staff should have clarified this from the start, as I felt misled. This lack of transparency was disappointing and put a dent in an otherwise fantastic experience.
In summary, the activity itself was fantastic—fun, safe, and professionally handled. But clearer communication about additional costs for photos and videos would improve the overall experience and prevent...
Read moreSigned up for a full day package consisting of Kandu cave exploration, abseiling and white water rafting on a Saturday. The day started with Kandu cave exploration by 2 less experienced guides that seemed to be working for the first time. We had to wait 1 hr before we sat foot on the trail than the original planned time due to some last minute joiners. The 'package' for cave exploration was outsourced to some snubby third party that bought the land in front of the cave. Our package did not include the 'diamond' cave part. Cave exploration was very slow due to 3 large groups of people that added up to around 25 ppl. The 2 guides weren't that confident in English as they even confused left with right when giving directions 😵.
We had our lunch back at riverbug site and then proceeded with abseiling afterwards, the guides from riverbug was very informative and professional. It was a fun and safe experience abseiling in freaking cold water.
Then we head towards the white water rafting while still having a medium rain and the river watered look like 'teh tarik' colour. The instructor gave clear instructions and also conveyed what we need to do clearly in case of emergencies. The stream was quite rough at medium level and it was an andrenaline filled ride down stream. We had a person who fell off and swept away by the atream. We managed to executed a rescue mission that made the whole experience very memorable.
The staffs in riverbug were very hospitable. The toilets and showering facilities are...
