Like the nearby Perigi Tujuh, this place is a lost opportunity due to the lack of proper signage to give a little history of the place.
From what I could gather online, there used to be a dam built in the 18th century for the tin mining industry in the area. Some time in the 19th century, the dam broke which caused a massive flood that claimed many lives. Hence, the name Ampang Pecah. However, I have no idea if this is the place where that dam used to be or if the story is totally unrelated to this place. A little sign to help clear that up would have been helpful.
As it is, many families bring their young children to frolic at the upper part of the dam. I was not properly clothed so I did not go into the water. However, I couldn't help but wonder if anyone has tried using a floating tube and slide...
